Islamic State militants can run but they can’t hide.
Officials continued to unmask the cowardly killers Wednesday, identifying another baby-faced thug as Michael Dos Santos, a 22-year-old Frenchman seen wielding a knife in the video portraying the beheading of American aid worker Peter Kassig.
The bearded monster left the Paris suburbs in August 2013 to join the fight in Syria, just like his fellow Frenchman Maxime Hauchard, another 22-year-old identified Monday by French officials.
“All we can say for now is that there are two French people who have been identified,” President Francois Hollande told reporters from Australia.
Peter Kassig, a 26-year-old former Army Ranger from Indianapolis, was captured while working in Syria as an aid worker and put to death by his Islamic State captors.
The Frenchmen and a Briton, believed to be Nasser Muthana, a 20-year-old former medical student, appear unmasked beside the black-cloaked executioner known as “Jihadi John,” a Beatles-inspired nickname given for his London accent.
The gangly coward has kept his face hidden in every video appearance, unlike the other ISIS militants, though security officials are confident the barbarian is Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, a 23-year-old failed rapper who left London last year.
Dos Santos surprised friends by suddenly converting to Islam and becoming radicalized, the French media has reported, according to The New York Times. He posted pictures of himself online dressed in in combat gear and was identified to authorities by his own mother.
Maxime Hauchard, 22, was identified Monday by French officials as one of its citizens.
Hauchard converted to the religion at age 17 and visited Syria first in August 2012 under the guise of doing humanitarian work.
Among European nations, France has had the largest contingent of its citizens join up with jihadi groups in Iraq and Syria at more than 1,100 people, including 375 currently fighting in the Middle East and who have been placed under surveillance.
Hauchard was interviewed in July by France’s BFM television, telling the network that “from a personal point of view, my objective is to be a martyr.”
At left is Dos Santos. At center is the suspected Briton known as ‘Jihadi John,’ who has kept his face hidden each time he has cowardly stood behind an innocent victim and beheaded them.
Hollande, the French president, called on citizens to be vigilant on “how these young people can be indoctrinated.”
