Angelina Jolie says politics or other public service may be in her future.
“I am open” to it, Jolie says in the December issue of Vanity Fair. “When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered. Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”

Still, observes the Oscar-winning actress, who has traveled worldwide for organizations including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, “I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful — I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible.”
Jolie, 39, who became a member of the policy institute of the Council on Foreign Relations in 2007, was awarded the movie industry’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award last year.
In her role as a UNHCR envoy since 2001, she has gone on more than 40 field missions to more than 30 nations, including war zones, as an advocate for refugees and other issues.
Jolie also tells the magazine about married life following her wedding to longtime partner Brad Pitt, 50, on Aug. 23. “It does feel different,” she says. “It feels nice to be husband and wife.”

Noting that she is preparing to direct and star with her new husband in “By the Sea,” she adds, “A few friends asked if we were crazy . . . [a film about] a married couple going through some difficulties . . . and I’m directing him.”
