Kathy Griffin has confirmed that she’s been offered the chance to take over Joan Rivers’ hosting role on E!’s “Fashion Police,” following Rivers’ death in September.

Griffin spilled the news at Equality’s Now’s “Make Equality Reality” event Monday, according to Access Hollywood. Fans hoping to see the comedian on the show shouldn’t get their hopes up, though.

“They did offer it to me,” Griffin told Access Hollywood. “I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time.”

“I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan’s work,” she said. “She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need. Somebody’s gotta be out there poking fun at the ridiculousness of all of this!”

Reps at E! said the network is still in negotiations and has no formal announcement at this time.

“Fashion Police” has aired on E! since 2010, with hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, George Kotsiopoulos and Rivers, until her death on Sept. 4. The series has been on hiatus since Rivers’ passing, but E! announced it will resume in 2015.
